The digitalization of business processes is progressing steadily and from 1 January 2025 it will be mandatory for German B2B companies to be able to receive and process electronic invoices (e-invoices). At TimberTec, we want to make it easier for our customers to switch to electronic invoices and are launching pilot projects in the last quarter of 2024.

In principle, an e-invoice or electronic invoice is a structured data set that is created, transmitted and received in an electronic format. With the introduction of the e-invoicing obligation, the aim is to introduce automatic further processing, which should lead to significant increases in efficiency.

*Many different XML formats can occur when receiving e-invoices. To be able to process received invoices, please contact us directly or external service providers (stratEDI etc.).

TimberTec solution for sending e-invoices

We are developing a solution specifically tailored to our customers for sending electronic invoices. We relied on the proven ZUGFeRD data format, which is based on EU directives on electronic invoice data exchange and the EN16931 standard. The advantage of this data format is the hybrid interaction of a PDF document and an XML data set. The PDF represents the visual component of the invoice and the XML format allows the electronic processing of the invoice with the same content.

To make it as easy and straightforward as possible for our customers to get started, we are initially focusing on sending invoices in ZUGFeRD format, which means our customers can send invoices to customers in hybrid format.
